ATLANTA – State Representative Dale Washburn (R-Macon) was recently named by Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) to serve as the chairman of the House Study Committee on Regulation, Affordability and Access to Housing.
“I am honored to have been selected by the Speaker to chair the study committee on this important issue,” said Rep. Washburn. “I look forward to working with the members of the committee as we study the issue of housing supply and affordability in Georgia. In particular, I expect to focus on local government regulation and its impact on housing.”
This study committee is created by House Resolution 1149, which was sponsored by Rep. Washburn during the 2022 legislative session. The study committee will offer an in-depth study and release legislative recommendations related to the need for housing for new companies relocating to Georgia, the regulation of rental homes by local jurisdictions, as well as the private property rights of owning, selling or renting a home in Georgia.

Representative Dale Washburn represents the citizens of District 141, which includes portions of Bibb and Monroe counties. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2018 and currently serves as a House Majority Caucus Deputy Whip and the Vice Chairman of the Regulated Industries Committee. He also serves as a member on the Banks & Banking, Higher Education, Small Business Development and Ways and Means committees.
