ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Bethany Ballard (R-Warner Robbins) as the Vice Chairman of the House Special Rules Committee.
“I want to thank Speaker Burns and House leadership for appointing me Vice Chairman of the Special Rules Committee,” said Rep. Ballard. “As a newly elected legislator, I appreciate their confidence in me. I look forward to working with Chairman Sainz to serve the citizens of Georgia.”
The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.
The Special Rules Committee hears legislation to establish House and Joint study committees on various subjects. The committee also deals with supporting resolutions to urge the United States Congress, change state symbols and designate state holidays.
Rep. Ballard was also named as a member of the Defense & Veterans Affairs and Education committees.
“I am honored and grateful to work on behalf of my district under the Gold Dome, and I am humbled that Speaker Burns and House leadership have placed such faith in me,” added Rep. Ballard. “My committee assignments will give me a direct voice on issues that are important to families in Middle Georgia, and I look forward to working with my colleagues on these important issues.”

Representative Bethany Ballard represents the citizens of District 147, which includes portions of Houston County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Special Rules Committee.
