ATLANTA – State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Savannah) will host a series of events for the second annual Family Empowerment Month. The event schedule is as follows:
- The Georgia Economic Empowerment Summit – Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Savannah Technical College;
- “It’s My Business” Breakfast Club Event – Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Garden City Empowerment Center;
- Family Affair/Fishing Rodeo – Saturday, May 27, 2023, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Daffin Park in Savannah.
The fifth annual Georgia Economic Empowerment Summit will feature several state officials as guest speakers, and this year’s summit will emphasize moving from renting to homeownership. The breakfast event’s guest speakers will provide information on writing a strategic business plan, acquiring business funding and establishing business credit. Rep. Gilliard has partnered with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the Savannah Recreation Department, Feed the Hungry and the Mance Law Firm for the outdoor family event. The Daffin Park Pond will be restocked for public fishing. There will be a fishing rodeo contest, free barbecue, family games, music and live entertainment.
