Speaker Jon Burns Announces Kayla Roberson as Communications Director

ATLANTA – Today, Georgia House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) announced the hire of Kayla Roberson as the Communications Director within his office. As communications director, she will oversee all external communication, media relations and strategic messaging for Speaker Burns. Stephen Lawson, who served as Speaker Burns’ senior communications advisor, will transition back into the private sector.

Speaker Burns said, “I’m excited to welcome Kayla to our team. Kayla has an excellent background, deep skill set and strong work ethic, and we’re excited to have her on board to continue getting our message out and sharing the House’s priorities ahead of and into next session. Stephen did a fantastic job helping guide many of our priorities and tell the story of the House’s success this past session, and I am grateful for his invaluable contributions to our office and the House and wish him much success as he ventures back into the private sector.”

Ms. Roberson is a graduate of the University of Georgia and previously served as press secretary for the Georgia Chamber where she oversaw all communications, strategic messaging and social media for the Chamber.

Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) is Georgia’s 75th Speaker of the House of Representatives. He represents the 159th legislative district of Georgia that includes Screven County and portions of Effingham and Bulloch Counties.
