ATLANTA – State Representative Joe Campbell (R-Camilla) was recently selected by Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve on the House Study Committee on the Exchange, Storage and Coverage of Agricultural Products, Grain and Livestock.
“I am grateful to Speaker Burns for appointing me to this study committee so that I may help further our commitment to supporting Georgia’s farmers and producers,” said Rep. Campbell. “As the number of surety bond claims made to the Georgia Department of Agriculture increases, the goal of our study committee is to examine any economic or fraudulent threats to Georgia’s farmers. I look forward to working with my colleagues to find solutions and present our recommendations when we return to the Capitol in January.”
Created by House Resolution 1166, the House Study Committee on the Exchange, Storage and Bond Coverage of Agricultural Products, Grain and Livestock will examine warehouse and bonding policies associated with Georgia’s agriculture industry.
Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: State Representatives Steven Meeks (R-Screven), Robert Dickey (R-Musella), Chas Cannon (R-Moultrie), Patty Stinson (D-Butler), Rob Leverett (R-Elberton) and Beth Camp (R-Concord).
Representative Joe Campbell represents the citizens of District 171, which includes Decatur and Mitchell counties and portions of Grady County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2020 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation and the Natural Resources & Environment, Special Rules, State Planning & Community Affairs and Transportation committees.
