Rep. Kim Schofield Celebrates City of Hapeville’s Designation as a Purple Heart City

ATLANTA – State Representative Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) recently celebrated the city of Hapeville’s designation as a Purple Heart City. This designation pays tribute to those individuals who have been wounded or lost their lives in the line of duty.

“The city of Hapeville stands as a beacon of gratitude and reverence, joining a proud tradition as a Purple Heart City,” said Rep. Schofield. “This designation is more than a symbol—it is a heartfelt tribute to the bravery, sacrifice and unwavering commitment of the men and women who have borne the weight of service to our nation. We honor their courage and the ideals of freedom and democracy they so valiantly defend. Let this moment remind us all to cherish and uplift our veterans and military personnel, whose sacrifices have made our communities and our country stronger. Together, we salute their enduring legacy.”

The Purple Heart City designation is awarded to cities that demonstrate a commitment to acknowledging and honoring the contributions of the nation’s veterans and military personnel.

Hapeville’s designation was approved by Mayor Alan Hallman, Councilmembers Brett Reichert, Mark Adams, Mike Rast and Chloe Alexander.

The Purple Heart is a distinguished military award presented to members of the United States Armed Forces who have been wounded or killed in action. Recipients of the Purple Heart are recognized for their sacrifices made in service to their country, and the award serves as a symbol of their courage and dedication.
