Rep. Mitchell Scoggins Named Chairman of the House Special Rules Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Mitchell Scoggins (R-Cartersville) as the Chairman of the House Special Rules Committee.

“I’m honored and humbled to serve as Chairman of the Special Rules Committee,” said Rep. Scoggins. “Thank you, Speaker Burns.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives. 

The Special Rules committee hears legislation creating House and joint study committees on various subjects. The committee also deals with supporting resolutions to urge the United States Congress, change state symbols and designate state holidays.

Representative Mitchell Scoggins represents the citizens of District 14, which includes portions of Bartow and Cherokee counties. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2018 and currently serves as Chairman of the Special Rules Committee. He also serves on the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Code Revision, Higher Education, Judiciary, Reapportionment and Redistricting and Transportation committees.  ###
