Rep. Leesa Hagan Named Chair of House Rural Development Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Leesa Hagan (R-Lyons) as the Chair of the House Rural Development Committee.

“Establishing a committee focused specifically on rural Georgia is important for addressing our unique challenges and opportunities,” said Rep. Hagan. “Through targeted policies and initiatives, we can drive economic development, improve services and enhance the quality of life for rural Georgians, ensuring that none of our citizens are left behind.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives. 

The House Rural Development Committee identifies policies and ideas to enhance economic opportunities across the entire state, particularly in rural areas.

Representative Leesa Hagan represents the citizens of District 156, which includes Montgomery, Toombs and Wheeler counties, as well as portions of Ben Hill, Tattnall and Telfair counties. She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2021 and currently serves as Chair of the Rural Development Committee. She also serves on the Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, Appropriations Subcommittee on Education, Industry and Labor, Natural Resources and Environment and Transportation committees.
