Rep. Gabriel Sanchez Sworn in, Receives Committee Assignments for the 2025-2026 Legislative Term

ATLANTA – State Representative Gabriel Sanchez (D-Smyrna) was sworn into office as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives on Monday, January 13, 2025, marking his first day of the 2025-2026 legislative term.

“It is an honor to represent the people of House District 42,” said Rep. Sanchez. “I am looking forward to serving our working-class communities and fighting for affordable housing, comprehensive healthcare, and a living wage for ALL Georgians.”

In addition to being officially sworn in, the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named Rep. Sanchez to the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Governmental Affairs and Interstate Cooperation committees. 

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives. 

Representative Gabriel Sanchez represents the citizens of District 42, which includes a portion of Cobb County. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2024 and currently serves on the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Governmental Affairs and Interstate Cooperation committees.
