Rep. Jordan Ridley Applauds Passage of House Bill 186 to Eliminate Title Ad Valorem Tax Fee Requirement for Inherited Vehicles

ATLANTA – State Representative Jordan Ridley (R-Woodstock) today applauds passage of House Bill 186, legislation he sponsored to eliminate the title ad valorem tax fee requirement for certain inherited motor vehicles.

“I deeply appreciate the support of my colleagues in the House for HB 186, common sense legislation designed to ease the financial burden on grieving families when inheriting a loved one’s vehicle,” said Rep. Ridley. “This bill reflects a compassionate and practical approach, ensuring that an already difficult time is not made harder by unnecessary costs. It is a small but meaningful step toward providing families with a measure of financial relief when they need it most.”

HB 186 would update the law so that upon the death of an owner of a motor vehicle, an immediate family member who receives the vehicle would not be subject to a state title ad valorem tax fee.
