ATLANTA – State Representative Sandra Scott (D-Rex) and Senator Tonya Anderson (D-Lithonia), who are veterans, recently held the 10th anniversary of the Women Veterans Legislative Breakfast at the Georgia Freight Depot in Atlanta. The breakfast was held in recognition of the Military Women Veterans Day at the Capitol and celebrated the achievements of women veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
“We celebrate a decade of advocacy, but our work is far from done,” said Rep. Scott. “We will continue fighting for the respect, recognition and resources that our women veterans deserve.”
“This milestone anniversary marks a decade of recognizing the contributions of women veterans and advocating for policies that improve their quality of life,” said Sen. Anderson. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring that our women warriors receive the support and recognition they have earned.”
“As a veteran myself, I understand the sacrifices and struggles that come with service,” said Rep. Davis. “It is imperative that we push for policies that provide comprehensive support and empower our women veterans beyond their time in uniform.”
This year’s event featured discussions, networking opportunities and recognition of women veterans making a difference in their communities. The 10th anniversary of this gathering seeks to underscore the progress made and the continued work to advance the rights and opportunities for military women veterans across Georgia. The event also provided an opportunity to discuss issues affecting women veterans, including access to healthcare, housing, employment and legislative efforts aimed at improving benefits and services.
Reps. Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain) and Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) were also in attendance at the event.
