ATLANTA – House Majority Leader Chuck Efstration (R-Mulberry) released the following statement in response to criticism of federal spending cuts by Georgia Democrats:
“The U.S. debt has reached $36.8 trillion, placing a massive financial burden on the backs of our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It is irresponsible of Georgia Democrats to continue demanding reckless spending, particularly without a plan to pay for it.
“Since Alexander Hamilton, the United States has never defaulted on its debt. Unbelievably, Democrats have no coherent plan to balance the federal budget and pay off our nation’s debts without default. President Trump’s leadership reigning in federal spending should not used by Democrats for cheap political points.”
Representative Chuck Efstration represents the citizens of District 104, which includes portions of Barrow and Gwinnett counties. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2013 and currently serves as the House Majority Leader. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Judicial, Ethics, Insurance, Judiciary, Judiciary Non-Civil, Judiciary Juvenile, Reapportionment and Redistricting and Ways & Means committees, as well as an Ex-Officio member of the Rules committee.
