Rep. Teddy Reese Named Vice Chair of the House Study Committee on Affordability & Accessibility of Georgia’s Legitimation Process

ATLANTA – State Representative Teddy Reese (D-Columbus) was recently selected by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as the vice chairman of the House Study Committee on Affordability & Accessibility of Georgia’s Legitimation Process.

“I am extremely honored that Speaker Burns selected me to be the vice chair of this very important study committee,” said Rep. Reese. “Complete families and stronger engagement of fathers in the life of children is a critical component for youth development and a desire that expands beyond party lines. Promoting strong family values and strong family units is not a bad thing.”

Created by House Resolution 753, this study committee will study whether the legitimation process in Georgia may be improved in a way that yields it more affordable and accessible, particularly for those biological fathers with limited financial resources.

Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: State Representative Carter Barrett (R-Cumming), Chairman, State Representative Lynn Heffner (D-Augusta), State Representative Rep. Rob Clifton (R-Evans), and State Representative Vance Smith (R-Pine Mountain).

Representative Tremaine Teddy Reese represents the citizens of District 140, which includes a portion of Muscogee County. He first was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Economic Development & Tourism and Public & Community Health committees, as well as the Special Committee on Resource Management.
