ATLANTA – State Representative Mary Ann Santos (D-McDonough) today issues the following statement regarding the recent court decision ordering Judge Glenda Hatchett to pay legal fees after withdrawing her lawsuit related to sexual battery by a former sheriff against the Georgia Sherriff’s Association (GSA):
“My heart goes out to Judge Glenda Hatchett and all survivors. The unified voices of 11 sheriffs are a powerful reminder that our voices can unite leaders. I will continue to advocate for policies that ensure survivors can seek justice and healing without added burden. To every survivor: Your voice is the foundation of change and a community of support stands with you.”
Rep. Santos also provides the following Spanish translation of her statement:
“Mi corazón está con la jueza Glenda Hatchett y con todos los supervivientes. Las voces unificadas de 11 sheriffs son un poderoso recordatorio de que nuestras voces pueden unir a los líderes. Seguiré abogando por políticas que garanticen que los supervivientes puedan buscar justicia y sanación sin cargas adicionales. A cada superviviente: su voz es la base del cambio y una comunidad de apoyo está con usted.”
Representative Mary Ann Santos represents the citizens of District 117, which includes a portion of Henry County. She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2024 and currently serves on the Code Revision, Judiciary, Juvenile and State Properties committees.
