ATLANTA – Chairman Representative Matt Reeves (R-Duluth) today announces that the third House Blue Ribbon Study Committee on Insurance Rates hearing, originally scheduled on Friday, October 17, 2025, in Columbus, Georgia, will be postponed.
“Out of respect for our late colleague, Chairlady Mandi Ballinger (R-Canton), our committee will postpone Friday’s hearing so that members have the opportunity to attend her funeral on Friday and honor her many years of effective service to the State of Georgia,” said Chairman Reeves. “The topics planned for the Columbus hearing, auto insurance and the premium tax, will be covered at our next hearing in Macon on November 21.”
The Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Insurance Rates is conducting a thorough examination of the insurance industry’s rate-setting practices, profit margins, claims processing and regulatory compliance to ensure that Georgia’s businesses, citizens and consumers are not being subjected to unjustified rate hikes. Future hearings will be held on November 21, at 9:30 a.m. in Macon at Georgia Farm Bureau headquarters, 1620 Bass Road, and December 18 in Gwinnett County.
