Rep. Sandra Scott Celebrates Tenure as Chairwoman of National Foundation for Women Legislators

ATLANTA – State Representative Sandra Scott (D-Rex) celebrates her year of service as the outgoing chairwoman of the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL), which is a nonpartisan organization that seeks to support elected women in government.

“I believe that I am the first African American woman legislator and veteran from the Georgia General Assembly to chair a national bipartisan organization,” said Rep. Scott. “Coming into the General Assembly during a difficult time makes this moment even more powerful. I am blessed, grateful and deeply humbled.”

Rep. Scott expresses appreciation to the NFWL board, sponsors, staff and elected women nationwide for their support and partnership throughout her tenure as chair. She issues thanks to the NFWL team—Jody, Renee, Ayushi, Brenna, Anna and the intern staff, saying, “You made me look like a million dollars to elected women across the country. There were no hitches, no complaints—only praise. Our members left inspired and ready to lead.”

She also expresses gratitude to the elected women of Georgia—including legislators, city councilwomen and county commissioners—from Atlanta, Washington, D.C. and New Orleans, adding, “Thank you, thank you, thank you for your unwavering support. My hope is that we take the ideas we gained through NFWL and turn them into meaningful action in our state, city and county governments.”

During Rep. Scott’s tenure, NFWL hosted a health conference with legislative solutions, a webinar series and featured speakers and policy sessions.

“To our generous sponsors, thank you for believing in our work and investing in the advancement of women in leadership,” concluded Rep. Scott. “Your commitment, resources and partnership strengthened our programs, enhanced our conferences and expanded our reach across the nation. I am deeply grateful for your support and the meaningful relationships built throughout this journey.”
