ATLANTA – State Representative Floyd Griffin (D-Milledgeville) today issues the following statement on the passing of U.S. Congressman David Scott (D-GA):
“Today, I join countless Georgians and Americans in mourning the loss of my friend and colleague, Congressman David Scott. His passing is not only a tremendous loss for the State of Georgia but also for our nation as a whole.
“I had the distinct honor of serving alongside David Scott during our time in the Georgia Senate, well before his election to the United States Congress. Even then, he was a man of principle, purpose and unwavering commitment to the people he served.
“Throughout his career, Congressman Scott demonstrated what true leadership looks like—leadership rooted in service, integrity and a deep understanding of the needs of everyday citizens. He never forgot where he came from, and he never stopped fighting for those who needed a voice.
“Beyond his public service, I will remember David as a friend—a man of character, wisdom and compassion. Our conversations, our shared experiences and our mutual commitment to improving the lives of others will remain with me always.
“Leaders solve problems, not create them—and David Scott lived that principle every day of his life.
“My thoughts and prayers are with his family, his loved ones and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of service will continue to inspire generations to come.
“Rest well, my friend. Your work here is done, but your impact will never be forgotten.”
