ATLANTA – State Representative Arlene Beckles (D-Norcross) will participate in the TEDxSnellville Countdown 2026 event, an independently organized TED event presented by the John and JeJuan Stewart, Jr. (JJSJ) Foundation, on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Centerville Community Center in Snellville.
“The young people of our district and beyond are not waiting for someone else to solve the challenges of our time—with the support of mentors, they are engineering the solutions themselves,” said Rep. Beckles. “The JJSJ Foundation TEDx Countdown event is exactly the kind of platform our community needs to elevate youth voices, celebrate bold ideas and inspire the next generation of leaders. I am honored to stand with these young innovators.”
The event will feature student speakers, innovators and community leaders from across the region presenting on challenges facing the planet. Topics include: pathways in environmental engineering; sustainable fashion; clean water and climate change; healthcare, wellness and innovation; and leadership and future careers.
The event is a program of the JJSJ Foundation, a Gwinnett County-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which seeks to transform service learners into servant leaders. Through hands-on mentorship, STEAMM-integrated programming and dynamic leadership training, the foundation seeks to equip youth with the tools to create meaningful change in their communities and beyond.
“When young people are given a stage and the resources to develop their ideas, the entire community benefits,” added Rep. Beckles. “This is the kind of investment in our youth that I have championed in the Georgia General Assembly, and events like this are proof that our communities are leading the way.”
