House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Criminal Post-Conviction Litigation to Hold First Meeting in Atlanta

ATLANTA – The House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Criminal Post-Conviction Litigation, chaired by State Representative Stan Gunter (R-Blairsville), will hold its first meeting on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the Nathan Deal Judicial Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

During the meeting, study committee members will discuss and hear from stakeholders about the current post-conviction legal framework in Georgia, particularly issues with ineffective assistance of counsel claims highlighted by the Georgia Supreme Court in Sanders v. The State, 323 Ga. 758 (2026).

The House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Criminal Post-Conviction Litigation will examine Georgia’s post-conviction legal framework to protect constitutional rights, reduce delays and improve the efficiency of the state’s justice system.
