Rep. David Wilkerson Receives ACCG’s 2026 Legislative Service Award

ATLANTA – State Representative David Wilkerson (D-Powder Springs) was recently awarded with The Association County Commissioners of Georgia’s (ACCG) 2026 Legislative Service Award, which honors state House and Senate members for their work during the legislative session. Rep. Wilkerson was presented with the award during the July 14 Cobb County Commission meeting.

“I am honored to receive a 2026 ACCG Legislative Service Award,” said Rep. Wilkerson. “Georgia’s counties are on the front lines of delivering essential services to our communities, and I believe state and local leaders achieve the best results when we work together. I appreciate ACCG’s partnership and the opportunity to advocate for policies that are fiscally responsible and help improve the lives of all Georgians across our state.”

Rep. Wilkerson was honored for serving as a partner to Georgia’s counties during the 2026 legislative session, particularly on matters of fiscal policy and property tax reform. As an evaluator for the House Democratic Caucus on House Bill 1116, Rep. Wilkerson worked to consider ACCG’s input. ACCG notes that he actively shared those concerns with caucus members and raised them during House floor debate. ACCG further notes that Rep. Wilkerson is a long-time collaborator with ACCG on complex fiscal issues, and he continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to sound public policy.

“For more than a decade, ACCG has honored members of the General Assembly through our Legislative Service Awards program,” said Executive Director Dave Wills. “This awards program serves as a way for us to express our gratitude to legislators for their efforts during the session, while emphasizing the importance of collaboration between state and local officials.”

The Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) is Georgia’s county association and works on behalf of county officials and their communities by providing public policy and legislative advocacy, leadership development, civic and community engagement initiatives, insurance and retirement programs that specialize in local government needs and other cost-saving programs.  Formed in 1914 when county officials came together to help fund the state’s first highway department, ACCG today serves as a catalyst for advancing Georgia’s counties.
