House Republican Caucus Announces New Caucus Officers

ATLANTA – The House Republican Caucus met today and elected key leadership positions. The Majority Caucus elected State Representative Matt Ramsey (R-Peachtree City) as the House Majority Whip, State Representative Matt Hatchett (R-Dublin) as the new Chairman of the House Republican Caucus, and State Representative Sam Teasley (R-Marietta) as the new Vice-Chairman of the House Republican Caucus.

“Today marks an important day for the House Republican Caucus as we welcome three new caucus officers: Rep. Matt Ramsey, Rep. Matt Hatchett and Rep. Sam Teasley,” said House Speaker David Ralston. “Each of them is a demonstrated leader with a reputation for hard work. Their efforts and contributions will be integral to this caucus as we continue to help lead and govern this great state.”

“I am deeply honored and humbled by the trust placed in me by the House Republican Caucus today,” said House Majority Whip Rep. Ramsey. “I look forward to working with my colleagues for the betterment of Georgia citizens.”

“I am honored that my colleagues have placed their faith and trust in me by electing me to this position,” said House Republican Caucus Chairman Rep. Hatchett. “I look forward to working with them to ensure Georgia remains a growing and prosperous state.”

“I am sincerely honored by this opportunity to serve the caucus as the next Vice-Chairman,” said Caucus Vice-Chairman Rep. Teasley. “I will work for the caucus in a spirit of servant leadership.”

Representative Matt Ramsey represents the citizens of District 72, which includes portions of Coweta and Fayette counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2007, and currently serves as the House Majority Whip. He also serves on the Appropriations, Ethics, Higher Education, Judiciary Non-Civil, Regulated Industries, Rules, and Ways & Means committees.

Representative Matt Hatchett represents the citizens of District 150, which includes portions of Johnson, Laurens, and Treutlen counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2010, and currently serves as the Chairman of the House Republican Caucus and as the Vice Chairman on the Economic Development & Tourism Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations, Ethics, Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, and Health & Human Services committees.

Representative Sam Teasley represents the citizens of District 37, which includes portions of Cobb County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2010, and currently serves as the House Caucus Vice Chairman. He also serves on the Banks & Banking, Education, Ethics, Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, and Insurance committees.
