ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Trey Kelley (R-Cedartown) as the Secretary of the Higher Education Committee. Rep. Kelley will also serve on the Banks & Banking, Code Revision, and Judiciary committees.
“I’m looking forward to serving as Secretary of the Higher Education committee and appreciate the confidence Speaker Ralston and my fellow colleagues placed in me by giving me this new responsibility,” said Rep. Kelley. “As the son of two public educators, I understand the important role education plays in our society and will use this position to help improve our economy by providing companies with a labor force of high skilled workers.”
The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Trey Kelley represents the citizens of District 16, which includes portions of Bartow, Haralson, and Polk counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2012, and currently serves as the Secretary on the Higher Education Committee. He also serves on the Banks & Banking, Code Revision, and Judiciary committees.
