ATLANTA – State Representative Karen Bennett (D-Stone Mountain) recently hosted an informational event in her district to educate citizens on the Affordable Care Act. The event was held on January 12, 2016 and brought navigators, provided information and promoted enrollment into the ACA Healthcare Marketplace.
“Since the Affordable Care Act was made law, I have partnered with local Religious and community leaders to host information and enrollment opportunities for my constituents,” said Rep. Bennett. “Having health insurance promotes healthy living and saves lives, and I urge Georgians to find out more about the benefits of the ACA law if they are currently uninsured. Attending community events, such as this one, is one of the best ways to learn more about that coverage.”
The event was held at Voices of Faith in Stone Mountain, Georgia in conjunction with Bishop Gary Hawkins, Sr., his congregation and members of the community. Attendees were given the opportunity to meet individually with healthcare navigators who were able to answer questions, help navigate the online marketplace and sign up qualified individuals.
The deadline for applying for healthcare coverage under the Affordable Care Act is January 31, 2016. Individuals who are not covered by their employers can visit www.healthcare.gov. Signing up for healthcare is required under the Affordable Care Act.
