REPRESENTATIVE HOLT LENDS A HELPING HAND TO HURRICANE VICTIMS

ATLANTA – During last week’s Special Session of the General Assembly, State Representative Doug Holt ( R-Social Circle) and several other house members lent some much needed helping hands to Hosea’s Feed the Hungry Effort. After a long morning of debate and voting, a group of legislators headed over to the Relief to offer not only supplies, but also several hours of volunteer work.

“While my family felt it was right to contribute money and extra clothing, etc., I found working with the folks at Hosea Feed the Hungry to be very rewarding. They are wonderful, hardworking people. And having worked on a farm as a kid, and then being in the Army, breaking a sweat to help gave me a much deeper satisfaction.”

Hosea’s Feed the Hungry and Homeless is providing a number of things all in one place: clothing and shoes for all ages, phone and gas cards, food boxes that will provide for families for two weeks, health care volunteers are providing medical attention, access to some private housing from people who are opening up their homes to evacuees, providing hotel stays from one week to 30 days, crisis counseling and intervention, and money to fly children to their families.

Hosea’s Feed the Hungry and Homeless is located at 1035 Donnelly Ave., SW, Atlanta, GA. Elizabeth Omilami is the Executive Director, and can be reached at 404-755-3353 or www.hoseafeedthehungry.com.
