ATLANTA – State Representative Vernon Jones (D-Lithonia) announced that the Georgia House of Representatives unanimously adopted House Resolution 1540, legislation sponsored by Rep. Jones urging the United States Congress to invest in infrastructure, on Tuesday, March 27, 2018.
“Our nation’s roadways, highways, waterways and bridges are in need of repair and regular maintenance, but we cannot complete these tasks without federal funding,” said Rep. Jones. “This funding would not only help us construct and repair Georgia’s infrastructure, but would also modernize our neglected rural areas and ensure that these regions have the proper infrastructure to foster economic growth. We hope that Congress sees and meets this need and that we can quickly restore and grow the state’s transportation framework. I’d especially like to thank Speaker Ralston for his leadership and support of this measure and investing in our state’s infrastructure, as well as my House colleagues. ”
House Resolution 1540 urges the United States Congress to take immediate action in providing funding for infrastructure construction, maintenance and repair. This federal funding is expected to spur at least $1.5 trillion in additional infrastructure investments.
