ATLANTA – State Representatives Dar’shun Kendrick (D-Lithonia), Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta), and Sandra Scott (D-Rex), along with City of Stockbridge Councilwoman Neat Robinson, recently attended the National Foundation for Women Legislators’ (NFWL) 2019 Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas. The conference brought together over 100 elected women from across the country to share policy ideas, network and engage in civil discourse.
“This is my first national NFWL conference, and so far, I have gained an abundance of knowledge from policy experts, with topics ranging from maternal mortality to prescription drugs,” said Rep. Kendrick. “Since healthcare is front and center in Georgia right now, especially with the state’s Medicaid waivers that were recently presented, the conference provided timely knowledge to bring back to Georgia.”
“As a member of the Board of Directors for the NFWL, I thrive on bringing Georgia’s women leaders together with women leaders across the U.S. to learn from industry leaders about different strategies and legislation that will help move our states forward,” said Rep. Scott, who also serves at the NFWL parliamentarian.
During the conference, Rep. Schofield and Councilwoman Robinson were presented with 2019 Women of Excellence awards on November 18, 2019.
“The NFWL’s conference convened to align elected officials with real life, real-time issues,” said Rep. Schofield. “We are women who not only lead, but also develop strategies and action steps to move forward, and I am so proud to work with a group of progressive women who value the voice of all women.”
“I am truly honored to be a recipient of the NFWL’s 2019 Woman of Excellence Award here in San Antonio, Texas,” said Councilwoman Robinson. “I love being a servant for Stockbridge. Our citizens continue to inspire me by their passion and commitment to our community, and I have always strived to reflect that standard of excellence. I feel very blessed to be recognized as I have the distinct honor of serving both on the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) Legislative and Federal Policy Committees, where I represent all 538 cities in the State of Georgia through the legislative and congressional process. The experiences have allowed me to play key roles in government engagement. I am forever grateful.”
The following Georgia state and local officials also attended the conference: State Representatives Carolyn Hugley (D-Columbus), Sheila Nelson (D-Augusta), Shelly Hutchison (D-Snellville), Rhonda Burnough (D-Riverdale), Sharon Beasley Teague (D-Red Oak), State Senator Tonya Anderson (D-Lithonia) and City of South Fulton Councilwoman Rosie Jackson.
The NFWL seeks to provide strategic resources to elected women for leadership development, exchange of diverse legislative ideas and effective governance through conferences, state outreach, educational materials, professional and personal relationships and networking.

Representative Dar’shun Kendrick represents the citizens of District 93, which includes portions of DeKalb and Gwinnett counties. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2010 and currently serves on the Interstate Cooperation, Judicial Non-Civil, Juvenile Justice and Small Business Development committees.
Representative Kim Schofield represents the citizens of District 60, which includes portions of Clayton and Fulton counties. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2017 and currently serves on the Health & Human Services, Interstate Cooperation and Small Business Development committees.
Representative Sandra Scott represents the citizens of District 76, which includes portions of Clayton and Henry counties. She was first elected to the House Representatives in 2010 and currently serves on the Defense & Veterans Affairs, Human Relations & Aging, Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment, Science and Technology and Special Rules committees.
