Representatives Maxwell and Butler Congratulate Appointees to Regional Water Council

ATLANTA – Today Representatives Howard Maxwell (R- Dallas) and Mark Butler (R- Carrollton) congratulated their constituents who were recently appointed to the Middle Chattahoochee Regional Water Council. This is one of ten regional water councils created by the Comprehensive Statewide Water Management Plan, which was approved by the General Assembly in 2008.

“We would like to congratulate Alan Bell of Bremen, Joseph Griffith of Buchanan, Philip Eidson and Thomas Ellis both of Tallapoosa” said Rep. Butler.

Each Regional Water Planning Council will develop a plan for the region’s future. The outcome of this process will guide management practice selection and the preparation of the region’s Water Development and Conservation Plan.

“We are confident that these men will be able to work with the other members of the Middle Chattahoochee Regional Water Council to create a plan that fits our needs,” stated Rep. Maxwell.

The Regional Water Planning Councils will prepare and submit recommended Water Development and Conservation Plans to the EPD Director by the end of 2010.

The selections for members of the regional water planning councils were announced on February 11, 2009 by Governor Sonny Perdue, Lt. Governor Casey Cagle and Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson.
