ATLANTA – State Representative Josh Bonner (R-Fayetteville), who is one of the governor’s floor leaders, was recently appointed by Governor Brian Kemp to serve as a member of one of the Georgia Jobs and Infrastructure Committees. As a member of the Economic Impact Committee, Rep. Bonner will work to make recommendations to Gov. Kemp regarding federal coronavirus relief funds that were allocated to Georgia through the American Rescue Plan.
“I’m honored to have been selected by Governor Kemp to serve on this committee alongside such a distinguished group of folks,” said Rep. Bonner. “I look forward to ensuring that our state economy continues on a steady path of growth as we help Georgians get back to work.”
Rep. Bonner will work with a bipartisan group of state leaders to examine the impact of the pandemic and make recommendations for grants to spur economic development across the state. This Economic Impact Committee will work in partnership with the Broadband Infrastructure Committee and Water and Sewer Infrastructure Committee.
According to the governor’s office, state and local governments, industries and nonprofits will be eligible to apply for this federal funding. The governor’s three committees will accept applications during the month of August at www.opb.georgia.gov. These committees plan to announce grants during the week of October 18, 2021. These dates are subject to change as guidance from the U.S. Department of the Treasury continues to evolve.
Representative Josh Bonner represents the citizens of District 72, which includes portions of Coweta and Fayette counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2016, and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Defense & Veterans Affairs Committee and Vice Chairman of the Creative Arts & Entertainment Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Economic Development, Economic Development & Tourism, Human Relations & Aging, Interstate Cooperation and Industry and Labor committees.
