Rep. John Carson Files Title IX Complaint Regarding Pope High School’s New Policies for Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team

ATLANTA – State Representative John Carson (R-Marietta) recently filed a Title IX gender discrimination complaint with the United States Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights Atlanta Division against Pope High School’s athletic department regarding the alleged inequitable treatment of female multi-sport athletes. Specifically, the complaint alleges gender-based discrimination by Pope High School girls’ varsity basketball coach and administration after a rule was reimplemented from last spring prohibiting girls’ varsity and junior varsity basketball team members from participating in other sports simultaneously.

Rep. Park Cannon, 23 Members of the Fulton County Legislative Delegation Express Disapproval of Nominees to Fulton Board of Elections

ATLANTA – State Representative Park Cannon (D-Atlanta), along with 23 members of the Fulton County House and Senate Legislative Delegations, recently wrote a letter to the Fulton County Board of Commissioners urging them to reject the nomination of two additional nominees to the Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections. The lawmakers will attend the Board of Commissioners meeting tomorrow — Wednesday, September 3 at 10:00 a.m. — and are encouraging the public to stand with them in support.

Georgia House Democrats to Hold Press Conference on One-Year Anniversary of Apalachee High School Shooting
