Long before I was sworn in as a Georgia State Representative, I was an activist, organizer, community missionary, government watchdog and an overall concerned citizen who stood at the microphone during public comment sessions, sometimes speaking to a practically empty room, to hold our school boards and local governments accountable.

Rep. Rick Townsend Appointed to House Study Committee on Student Attendance in PreK-12 Education

ATLANTA – State Representative Rick Townsend (R-Brunswick) was recently appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve on the House Study Committee on Student Attendance in PreK–12 Education. The study committee is set to hold its first meeting on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the Georgia State Capitol.

Rep. Steven Sainz Applauds Grant Funding to Support St. Marys Children’s Theatre

ATLANTA – State Representative Steven Sainz (R-St. Marys), chairman of the House Interstate Cooperation Committee, applauds the recent Project Grant funding that was awarded to the St. Marys Children’s Theatre to support its 2026 Spring Mainstage Production. The Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA), a division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, recently announced a $5,000 grant for this organization as a part of its General Operating Support, Project and Arts Education Program grants.
