Rep. Matt Reeves Applauds Approval of Gwinnett Homestead Referendum

ATLANTA – State Representative Matt Reeves (R-Duluth) applauds Gwinnett County voters for approving two homeowner property relief referenda on the May 21, 2024, ballot. House Bill 711, which Rep. Reeves sponsored alongside a group of bipartisan Gwinnett legislators, doubles the homestead exemption for all Gwinnett County homeowners and was approved by 73.81 percent of voters. Additionally, House Bill 748, providing further homeowner tax relief for school, law enforcement, hospital and military personnel, passed with 63.47 percent of the vote.

Reps. Burnough, Davis, Schofield Announce Start of Period Poverty Awareness Week

ATLANTA – State Representatives Rhonda Burnough (D-Riverdale), Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain) and Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) announce the start of Period Poverty Awareness Week by the Alliance for Period Supplies, which begins today, Monday, May 20, 2024. Speaker Jon Burns Appoints Janelle King to State Elections Board

ATLANTA – Today, Speaker of the House Jon Burns (R-Newington) announced the appointment of Janelle King to the State Elections Board effective immediately. King will replace Edward Lindsey who resigned today after serving in the position since 2022. The Georgia State Elections Board is responsible for overseeing the rules and regulations of the elections process in Georgia, investigating the administration and compliance of elections, developing reports and making recommendations to the General Assembly.
