ATLANTA – State Representative Farooq Mughal (D-Dacula) announces the successful conclusion of his first term serving House District 105 in the Georgia House of Representatives. Following the 2023 and 2024 legislative sessions, 10 bills, co-sponsored by Rep. Mughal, covering a wide array of areas including economic growth, criminal justice reform, healthcare, veteran’s affairs, public safety and local tax relief, were signed into law by Governor Kemp.

Georgia House Bill 1032: Ending Foreclosure for Unpaid Property Association Fees

We plan to refile House Bill 1032, the “Property Owner Rights and Accountability Act,” which proposes to eliminate the option for property associations to foreclose on homes for unpaid assessments. By removing the $2,000 minimum threshold for foreclosure, the bill aims to protect property owners from losing their homes over association fees. This move seeks to address concerns about the potential abuse of assessment fees, which have, at times, been used to unfairly target homeowners.
