Reps. Michelle Au, Mary Margaret Oliver Introduce Legislation to Address Gun Safety, Violence

ATLANTA – State Representatives Michelle Au (D-Johns Creek) and Mary Margaret Oliver (D-Decatur) recently introduced a legislative package to enhance gun safety and reduce gun violence. Major provisions of House bills 44 and 45 include implementing background checks and a three-day waiting period to purchase firearms. House bills 135 and 161 would require firearms to be stored securely around minors, as well as establish personal responsibility for gun owners if their firearm is used to commit a crime.

Rep. Mandisha A. Thomas Sworn in, Receives New Committee Assignments for 2023-2024 Legislative Term

ATLANTA – State Representative Mandisha A. Thomas (D-South Fulton) was sworn into office for her second term in the Georgia House of Representatives on Monday, January 9, 2023, which was the first day of the 2023-2024 legislative term. The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments also named Rep. Thomas to the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications and Industry and Labor committees.
