Representative Sharon Cooper Announces Final Passage of House Bill 1114 to Address Maternal Mortality in Georgia
ATLANTA – State Representative Sharon Cooper (R-Marietta), chairman of the House Health & Human Services Committee, today announced that the Georgia House of Representatives gave final passage to House Bill 1114 on Wednesday, June 24, 2020. Through this legislation, Chairman Cooper seeks to fight maternal mortality in Georgia. House Bill 1114 would extend the duration of postpartum Medicaid coverage for new mothers from two months to six months. Rep. Houston Gaines Announces Final Passage of Legislator Pay Cut Bill
ATLANTA – State Representative Houston Gaines (R-Athens) today announced that the Georgia General Assembly gave final passage to Senate Bill 416 on Thursday, June 25, 2020. Rep. Gaines sponsored SB 416 in the House, and Senator Jeff Mullis (R-Chickamauga) carried the legislation in the Senate. SB 416, which passed 104-56 in the House and 34-16 in the Senate, would reduce the salaries of General Assembly Members for Fiscal Year 2021 (FY 2021) by 10 percent – matching the overall budget reductions of 10 percent. Georgia House Democratic Caucus COVID-19 Subcommittee Opposes FY 2021 Budget Proposal
ATLANTA – Members of the Georgia House Democratic Caucus (GHDC) COVID-19 Subcommittee recently announced their opposition to the Fiscal Year 2021 (FY 2021) budget and released an action plan in response to the FY 2021 budget. House Minority Caucus Chairman James Beverly (D-Macon), along State Representatives Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain), Sandra Scott (D-Rex), Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta), Debra Bazemore (D-South Fulton), Mary Robichaux (D-Roswell), Donna McLeod (D-Lawrenceville), Rhonda Burnough (D-Riverdale) and Shelly Hutchinson (D-Snellville), recently drafted an independent FY 2021 funding proposal in response to COVID-19.
