Alma Awarded $6 Million to Finance Wastewater System Infrastructure

ATLANTA – Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) Executive Director Kevin Clark announced today the approval of a Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) loan of $6,000,000 to the City of Alma to finance upgrades to the city’s wastewater treatment facility. Clark expressed appreciation to State Representative Chuck Sims (R-Ambrose) for his support and credited the state’s commitment to helping cities and counties finance infrastructure development as one of the main contributors to GEFA’s success.

Rep. Drenner Introduces Legislation to Protect EMC Customers

ATLANTA — State Representative Karla Drenner (D-Avondale Estates) today announced the introduction of House Bill 500, legislation to increase the amount of oversight the Public Service Commission (PSC) has over Electric Membership Corporations (EMCs). Specifically, HB 500 would require the PSC to review any EMC contract for the purchase of power that runs longer than five years.

Georgia House Honors March of Dimes Day and Donates Diapers for Premature Babies to Grady NICU

ATLANTA— The Georgia House of Representatives recognized Wednesday, March 13, 2013, as March of Dimes Day at the Georgia State Capitol in honor of the organization’s 75th anniversary. As part of the event, each of the 180 state representatives received a diaper specially made for babies born prematurely so that they could better understand the size and special needs of premature babies. The representatives then collectively agreed to donate the diapers to Grady Hospital’s nationally recognized neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Coweta County Delegation Recognizes Coweta Principal at State Capitol

ATLANTA – The Coweta County Legislative Delegation today led the Georgia House of Representatives in recognizing Dr. Laurie Barron for being named the MetLife/NASSP National Middle Level Principal of the Year, with House Resolution 466. The Coweta County Delegation is comprised of state Representatives Lynn Smith (R-Newnan), David Stover (R-Newnan), Matt Ramsey (R-Peachtree City), and Carl Von Epps (D-LaGrange), as well as state Senator Mike Crane (R- Newnan).
