Rep. Randy Nix Named Chair of Reapportionment Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Randy Nix (R-LaGrange) as the Chairman of the Legislative and Congressional Reapportionment Committee and Secretary of the Banks and Banking Committee. Rep. Nix will also serve on the Appropriations; Economic Development & Tourism; Education; and Natural Resources and Environment committees.

Rep. Keisha Waites Sponsors Legislation for Free College Tuition to Children of Fallen Heroes

ATLANTA – State Representative Keisha Waites (D-Atlanta) today announced the introduction of legislation that would provide free college tuition to children of fallen public safety workers. The Georgia State Firefighters Association, Fraternal Order of the Police, and a host of public safety officials from around the state will be joining Rep. Waites to lobby statewide for passage of this legislation.

Rep. Terry Rogers Receives Leadership Positions

ATLANTA – House Majority Whip Edward Lindsey (R-Atlanta) appointed state Representative Terry Rogers (R–Clarkesville) as a member of the 2013-2014 House Majority Whip team. As a member of the majority whip team, Rep. Rogers will play a critical role by monitoring legislation as it moves through both chambers of the General Assembly and by helping members of the majority caucus to better understand the details of bills and resolutions.
