Approval of the Director of Planning
ATLANTA- Today House Transportation Chairman Jay Roberts (R-Ocilla) named Rep. Ed Rynders (R-Albany) Chairman of the House Transportation Subcommittee on Approval of the Director of Planning. This subcommittee will consider Governor Sonny Perdue’s recent appointment, Mr. Todd Long, for the position of Director of Planning at the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and make a recommendation to the full House Transportation Committee. ATLANTA – The House Republican Caucus recently elected state Representative Allen Peake (R- Macon) as the new caucus secretary/treasurer. In his new position, Rep. Peake will be responsible for the financial management of the House Republican Caucus funds, for maintaining a record of all caucus meetings, advancing communication vehicles for the House Caucus, as well as providing input to the House leadership on policy initiatives. “I’m honored to be elected to the Caucus Secretary/Treasurer position by my colleagues, and look forward to growing our majority in the Georgia State House,” said Rep. Peake, who also serves on the House Policy Committee. “During these tough economic times, we must stay focused on finding common sense solutions to the everyday challenges that confront Georgia’s citizens. I am confident that the House Republican leadership is up to this task, and is prepared to get Georgia growing again. I’m proud to be part of the team.”
The leadership change came after Rep. Jay Roberts became House Transportation Committee Chairman and stepped down as House Republican Caucus Chairman. Rep. Donna Sheldon (R- Dacula), formerly the caucus vice-chairman, was elected to the position of caucus chairman and Rep. Jeff May (R- Monroe), previously, the caucus secretary/treasurer, was elected vice chairman.

Representative Allen Peake represents the citizens of District 137, which includes portions of Bibb County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2006, is a deputy whip and currently serves on the Banks & Banking, Children & Youth, Education, Health & Human Services, and Ways & Means Committees.
