Calhoun, Clay and Randolph Counties Added to Disaster Declaration

ATLANTA – State Representative Gerald Greene (R-Cuthbert) today announced that Calhoun, Clay and Randolph counties were added to a disaster declaration and are now eligible to apply for federal disaster assistance for losses from Hurricane Michael. Early and Terrell counties in House District 151 were previously added to the disaster declaration.

“I am grateful to Governor Deal and President Trump for including these additional communities in House District 151 in Georgia’s aid request,” said Rep. Greene. “The individual disaster assistance programs will provide tremendous support to families and businesses who are working to recover from this devastating storm. The counties I serve, and the rest of Georgia, will benefit significantly from these recovery efforts as we all try to rebuild and move forward in its aftermath.”

On Friday, October 12, Governor Deal requested federal assistance from President Trump and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Since the request was granted on Sunday, October 14, FEMA and the Georgia Emergency Management & Homeland Security (GEM/HS) have continued to conduct individual assessments throughout Georgia. Individual assistance may include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from Hurricane Michael.

To be eligible for disaster aid, damages and losses must have occurred as a result of Hurricane Michael, beginning Oct. 9.
