ATLANTA – State Representative Park Cannon (D-Atlanta), Secretary of the Georgia House Democratic Caucus (GHDC), and members of the GHDC will hold a “Day of Action” press conference to show support for the Barrow County community following yesterday’s school shooting at Apalachee High School TOMORROW, Friday, September 6, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the South Wing Steps of the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta.
State Representatives Michelle Au (D-Johns Creek), Saira Draper (D-Atlanta), Eric Bell (D-Jonesboro) and Omari Crawford (D-Decatur), along with members of the Barrow County community, will be present to offer remarks during the press conference.
“On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, Georgians faced a tragic mass shooting at Apalachee High school in Barrow County,” said Rep. Cannon. “Four innocent lives were lost, and others were critically injured after a troubled student brought a weapon to school with the intent to kill and harm. This latest heartbreaking mass shooting event underscores the urgent need for meaningful action to keep our schools and communities safe. As leaders in our state, we can no longer settle for mere expressions of sympathy after these events. This incident demands a legislative response to ensure that students, educators and communities across our state are protected from such violence.”
