Georgia State Representative Lynn Smith Speaks at Leadership Atlanta Event

ATLANTA—State Representative Lynn Smith (R-Newnan) spoke at a Leadership Atlanta alumni program entitled, “Uniting the Two Georgias,” on Thursday, February 18, 2010. As part of a legislative panel, Representative Smith discussed Judge Magnuson’s ruling on the future of Lake Lanier’s water supply and how this ruling will affect the entire state of Georgia.

“I was encouraged by the Leadership Atlanta members’ interest in learning how the greater metro Atlanta area is viewed by the rest of the state,” said Representative Smith. “My message was that we, as a state, have to work together to solve important issues like water and transportation. That is how we will thrive economically as a state.”

Other issues discussed included transportation prospects for commuter rails and mobility versus economic development as a basis for transportation funding in rural counties.

Also participating on the legislative panel were former State Representative Bob Holmes (D-Atlanta) and former State Representative Richard Royal (R-Camilla). The event, held at King and Spalding law offices in midtown Atlanta, was attended by approximately 150 Leadership Atlanta alumni.
