ATLANTA – State Representative Ronnie Mabra (D-Fayetteville) today announced that House Bill 804 was signed into law Tuesday, April 27 by Governor Nathan Deal at a bill signing ceremony at the State Capitol. HB 804, sponsored by Rep. Mabra, will add a fifth judge to the Superior Court in Clayton County.
“I would like to thank Gov. Deal for his support in signing this important legislation for Clayton County,” said Rep. Mabra. “By adding a fifth Superior Court Judge, we will alleviate some of the burden held by our current judges and allow the judicial process to work more effectively and efficiently in our county and for our citizens.”
HB 804 will add one additional judge to the Clayton Judicial Circuit. The governor will appoint the new judge for a term beginning January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2018. His or her successor will then be chosen during the November 2018 election cycle in a non-partisan election to fill a four year term.
