ATLANTA – House Majority Leader Jon Burns (R-Newington) today sent a second letter to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger urging a response to a December 4, 2020, letter submitted by Leader Burns and more than 100 current and newly-elected House members. Leader Burns, along with the vast majority of the Georgia House Republican Caucus, requested improvements to the absentee ballot application and envelope signature verification process and that the Secretary of State seek out additional staffing options to provide more support and oversight for Georgia’s upcoming election on January 5, 2021.
“My colleagues and I in the Georgia House Republican Caucus offered two common-sense suggestions to increase security and faith in our elections process, but neither I nor my co-signers have received an official response to our correspondence,” said Majority Leader Burns. “We are facing a pivotal election for our state in less than one month. Time is of the essence. Georgians must have confidence in our elected officials to securely and efficiently carry out an election in which all legal votes are counted and no illegal votes are counted.”
Majority Leader Burns’s most recent letter requests that Secretary Raffensperger’s office provide a written response on the status of his original correspondence and any actions that Secretary Raffensperger has taken or intends to take in response to the Georgia House Republican Caucus’s requests.
