ATLANTA – Georgia House Majority Whip Christian Coomer (R-Cartersville) today announced the appointment of his Deputy Whip team.
“We have selected some of the brightest and best leaders in the State of Georgia to serve on the Majority Whip’s team,” said Majority Whip Coomer. “Each of the deputy whips possesses the skills to move our Republican Caucus toward continued success.”
The Deputy Whip team will include Reps.: Beth Beskin, (R-Atlanta), Chief Deputy Whip; Dave Belton (R-Buckhead); Shaw Blackmon (R-Bonaire); Micah Gravely (R-Douglasville); Dominic LaRiccia (R-Douglas); Eddie Lumsden (R-Armuchee); Jesse Petrea (R-Savannah); Betty Price (R-Roswell); Trey Rhodes (R-Greensboro); Brian Strickland (R-McDonough); and Bill Werkheiser (R-Glennville).
Members of the Deputy Whip team are responsible for monitoring legislation as it moves through both chambers of the General Assembly and helping their fellow House members understand the details of bills and resolutions.
Representative Christian Coomer represents the citizens of District 14, which includes portions of Bartow and Floyd counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2010, and currently serves as the House Majority Whip. He serves as the Chairman of the Transportation Committee and is a member on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Economic Development and the Banks & Banking, Judiciary Non-Civil, Retirement, and Juvenile Justice committees.
Representative Beth Beskin represents the citizens of District 54, which includes portions of Fulton County. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 2014, and currently serves as Chair of the MARTOC Governance Subcommittee. She also serves on the Education, Judiciary, MARTOC, and State Planning & Community Affairs committees.
Representative Dave Belton represents the citizens of District 112, which includes all of Morgan County and the eastern side of Newton County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2014, and currently serves as a member of the Economic Development & Tourism, Education, and Interstate Cooperation committees.
Representative Shaw Blackmon represents the citizens of District 146, which includes portions of Houston County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2015, and currently serves on the Economic Development & Tourism, Insurance, and Special Rules committees.
Representative Micah Gravley represents the citizens of District 67, which includes portions of Douglas and Paulding counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2012, and currently serves as the Vice Chairman on the Code Revision Committee. He also serves on the Economic Development & Tourism, Judiciary Non-Civil, and Public Safety & Homeland Security committees.
Representative Dominic LaRiccia represents the citizens of District 169, which includes Bacon County and portions of Coffee and Jeff Davis counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2014, and currently serves on the Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, Game, Fish and Parks, and Special Rules committees.
Representative Eddie Lumsden represents the citizens of District 12, which includes portions of Chattooga and Floyd counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2012, and currently serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education and the Budget & Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Governmental Affairs, Insurance, Public Safety and Homeland Security, and State Properties committees.
Representative Jesse Petrea represents the citizens of District 166, which includes portions of Bryan and Chatham counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2014, and currently serves on the Health & Human Services, Human Relations & Aging, and Public Safety & Homeland Security committees.
Representative Betty Price represents the citizens of District 48, which includes portions of Fulton County. She was first elected into the House of Representatives in 2015, and currently serves on the Governmental Affairs, Health & Human Services, and State Planning & Community Affairs committees.
Representative Trey Rhodes represents the citizens of District 120, which includes Greene, Oglethorpe and Taliaferro counties, and portions of Putnam and Wilkes counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2015, and currently serves on the Banks & Banking, Economic Development & Tourism, and Special Rules committees.
Representative Brian Strickland represents the citizens of District 111, which includes portions of Henry County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2012, and currently serves as the Vice Chairman on the Banks & Banking Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Health, and the Economic Development & Tourism, Industry and Labor, Intragovernmental Coordination, and Judiciary Non-Civil committees.
Representative Bill Werkheiser represents the citizens of District 157, which includes portions of Evans, Tattnall, and Wayne counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2014, and currently serves on the Industry & Labor, Information & Audits, and State Properties committees.
