House Majority Whip James Burchett Applauds Passage of Federal Budget Legislation

ATLANTA – Georgia House Majority Caucus Whip James Burchett (R-Waycross) issues the following statement applauding the U.S. House and Senate for passing the federal budget legislation:

“I congratulate President Trump and the House and Senate in Washington for the passage of their budget plan.

With provisions that enact major portions of President Trump’s agenda — including tax cuts, immigration and border enforcement, efforts to stop the flow of fentanyl and work requirements for the able-bodied — it’s great to see Washington pass laws supporting the agenda we’ve been working to implement for years in Georgia.

Georgia Republicans continue to enact important legislation to cut taxes, end sanctuary cities, stop fentanyl and protect public safety – and we’ll continue to do so in the years to come.”

Representative James Burchett represents the citizens of District 176, which includes all of Atkinson and Lanier counties as well as portions of Coffee, Lowndes and Ware counties. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2019 and currently serves as the House Majority Whip. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Judicial, Ethics, Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, Judiciary Non-Civil, Public & Community Health, Rural Development, State Properties and Transportation committees, as well as an Ex-Officio member of the Rules Committee.
