House Minority Whip Wilkerson Applauds President Biden’s Historic U.S. Supreme Court Nomination

ATLANTA – House Minority Whip David Wilkerson (D-Powder Springs) applauds President Joe Biden’s intent to nominate Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court. If confirmed, she will be the first Black woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court.

“President Biden promised to diversify the highest court in our nation, and this nomination delivers on his promise in a profound, historic way,” said Minority Whip Wilkerson. “As an African American woman, Judge Brown Jackson would understand the ripple effect the U.S. Supreme Court has on the lives of African Americans in Georgia. I applaud President Biden for his intent to nominate a Black woman who would uphold the rule of law for our country.”

Brown Jackson is currently a judge on U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. She previously served as a clerk for Justice Breyer, a federal appellate judge, a federal district court judge, a member of the U.S. Sentencing Commission, an attorney in private practice and as a federal public defender.

Representative David Wilkerson represents the citizens of District 38, which includes portions of Cobb County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2010 and currently serves as the House Minority Whip. He also serves on the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Juvenile Justice, Ethics, Rules, Retirement and Science and Technology committees.
