ATLANTA- House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) today announced the appointment of Rep. Barbara Sims (R-Augusta) to the Joint Study Committee on Medicaid Reform.
The Joint Study Committee on Medicaid Reform, created by HR 107, is charged with evaluating the state’s Medicaid program, examining other states’ best practices and planning for future actions necessary to sustain appropriate levels of services and funding. The joint committee is an 18 member committee made up of six members appointed by the Speaker of the House, six members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor and six members appointed by the Governor.
Other House members appointed to the study committee include the following legislators:
• State Representative Butch Parrish (R-Swainsboro), Co-Chair
• State Representative Craig Gordon (D-Savannah)
• State Representative Richard Smith (R-Columbus)
• State Representative Darlene Taylor (R-Thomasville)
• State Representative Bruce Williamson (R-Monroe)
Former State Representative Donna Sheldon’s resignation from the Georgia House of Representatives created the opening on this study committee.
