ATLANTA- State Representative Mark Hamilton (R- Cumming) has been named chairman of the Governmental Affairs Committee and a member of the powerful Appropriations Committee. House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) made the announcement this legislative session.
“Since Representative Hamilton joined the House in 2007, he was quick to show that he was a leader ready to take on greater responsibilities,” said House Speaker David Ralston. “As a committee chairman and a member of Appropriations, I have faith in his ability to help lead the House through these difficult times.”
Representative Hamilton was also appointed to the House Special Committee on Small Business Development and Jobs Creation. He will continue to serve on the Children and Youth, Industrial Relations, and the Transportation Committees.
“I am humbled and honored that Speaker Ralston chose to not only appoint me chairman of the Governmental Affairs Committee, but that he also appointed me to the Appropriations Committee,” said Representative Hamilton. “As everyone knows, this is an incredibly difficult budget year and I look forward to bringing my business experience as well as my dedication to conservative principles to the difficult and important task ahead of us.”

Representative Mark Hamilton represents the citizens of District 23, which includes portions of Cherokee and Forsyth counties. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2006.
