ATLANTA- Today the Augusta Richmond County Legislative Delegation announced the appointment of Cedric Johnson as the new Chairman of the Augusta-Richmond County Coliseum Authority. In accordance with House Bill 813, Mr. Johnson will serve as Chairperson of the restructured seven member Coliseum Authority.
“Mr. Johnson knows how important it is for the Coliseum Authority to have a demonstrated leader as chairperson,” said Representative Quincy Murphy (D- Augusta), Chairman of the Augusta Richmond County Legislative Delegation. “We feel that Mr. Johnson brings the integrity, experience and commitment to excellence that will enable the newly constituted coliseum authority to hit the ground running under committed and progressive leadership.”
After the passage of House Bill 813 members of the Augusta Richmond County Legislative Delegation began to identify individuals from the community who they felt could offer the experience needed to lead the restructured Coliseum Authority. Because of his success as Chairman of the Augusta Aviation Commission, Cedric Johnson was one of the first names mentioned as a possible candidate.
“Our county commission has voiced its confidence in the Coliseum Authority to handle the bonds to fund the proposed TEE Center and it is important that we show the community that we are ready to enter a new era of entertainment and tourism for the Augusta area,” added Rep. Murphy.
