Morgan Honored for Helping Foster Youth

ATLANTA— Last week EmpowerMEnt, Multi-Agency Alliance for Children, Inc. (MAAC), and Georgia’s Independent Living Program (ILP) presented Representative Alisha Thomas Morgan (D- Austell) with a service award for her dedication to helping Georgia’s foster youth.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by these amazing groups, who work day in and day out to help Georgia’s children,” said Rep. Morgan. “There are so many case workers, advocates and foster parents who pour themselves into the lives of young people in foster care in order to give them the opportunities every child should have. As legislators it’s our responsibility to work with these groups to ensure public policy cares for Georgia’s most precious resource, our children.”
The award was given to Rep. Morgan at the Higher Education Institute’s youth appreciation luncheon on June 10, 2009. She was given the award for her commitment to improving the lives of foster youth in Georgia and in gratitude for her work to expand Medicaid coverage to people between the ages of 18 and 21.
