House Republican Caucus Elects Officers

ATLANTA – The House Republican Caucus met today to elect its leadership team for the 2025-2026 legislative term. During the meeting, House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) was nominated by the caucus to serve a second term as the 75th Speaker of the House of Representatives, while House Speaker Pro Tempore Jan Jones (R-Milton) was also nominated to serve another term in her role.

Rep. Sandra Scott Named Chairwoman of the National Foundation for Women Legislators 

ATLANTA – State Representative Sandra Scott (D-Rex) recently was nominated to serve as the chairwoman of the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL). In addition to this nomination, Rep. Scott also obtained $200,000 in funding to support NFWL initiatives to help further the organization’s capacity to engage women in public policy discussions.

Reps. Kim Schofield and Rhonda Burnough Join College Park in Celebrating Purple Heart City Designation, Honoring Military Sacrifice and Service

ATLANTA – State Representatives Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) and Rhonda Burnough (D-Riverdale) recently joined College Park officials and community members to celebrate the city’s adoption of the Purple Heart City designation, honoring the bravery and sacrifices of military veterans and active service members who were wounded or lost their lives in service.
